Despite the terrible weather conditions, we made or way to Kilbeggan race course on Sun.22^nd Nov. for the national even age and Inter-County Cross Country. Howling wind, driving rain and mud up to our knees made conditions very difficult, but our athletes put in a valiant effort and we saw some great running.

Our U12 boys, had a full team and both Jamie Fallon and Scott Howard had a fantastic race to finish 26^th and 27^th, with Luke Donoghue 61^st, Matthew Malone 99^th, Cian Baldwin 115^th and Conor Dempsey 116^th in a field of 152 finishers. The boys team were 7^th overall. Well done lads and a special commendation for Conor, who’s sportsmanship was commented on by several of those present .

We had four girls on the Wicklow U16 team, where Claire Fox finished in 20^th place, Amy Howard 70^th, Aisling McCabe 85^th and Hayley Fallon 116^th. Claire was also representing Leinster in this race, where she won a silver medal.

We didn’t have a full team in the U18 girls, where Ellie Hartnett finished 15^th, Aisling McGee 20^th and Laura Boylan 61^st. Ellie and Aisling won bronze medals on the Leinster team. Niamh Kearney stepped up to compete in the Junior inter-county race, where she finished 23^rd.

Good luck to everyone competing in the uneven ages next Sunday in Coleraine.

Up-coming competitions

As previously mentioned, the County are postponing their Sportshall competition scheduled for Fri 11^th Dec. As we know how much everyone likes this event and we don’t want you all to be disappointed, Greystones AC are holding a Sportshall event in Shoreline hall on this date. This will be an open event for children from 6 to 12 years old, so bring your friends along and have a great night. The event starts at 6pm and will run until about 8.30pm.  Athletes will need to arrive on time and be able to stay for the whole competition, as it is a team event.  Cost is €2 each and teams will be made up on the night. Medals to top three teams in each catagory.

The Cross Country relays will be held in Avondale on Sun 20^th Dec. in conjunction with the Junior & Senior events. Races start at 11am and teams will be made up on the day.  

Club Shop

Our club shop has been open for the last four Tuesdays and orders have been taken for hoodies, which I will be sending off this week……so last chance to order before it goes. We will be open on the 1^st Tuesday of each month from now on.

Request for swimmers

Shoreline are hoping to hold another training course for their staff shortly and will be looking for a number of children to come along and have free swimming lessons over 3 days. If anyone is interested in taking part, you can give your names to Theresa and I will send on details as soon as they are confirmed.

European Cross Country Championships

Sunday December 13^th  -  Santry Demesne

Last chance to secure a place on the bus for the Eurocross and ice skating trip. All are welcome to come along, but U12’s must be accompanied by an adult. Cost is €20, payable with booking form, which must be returned by tomorrow night, Wed 2^nd Dec.

Depart Wicklow on the day at  8-00am, pick up in Greystones, at the track, at approx 8.20am & on to Santry. First race, Junior Women is at 10-00am. Final Race, Senior Men is at 2-10pm.

Leave Santry approx. 3-00pm. Ice skating at Charlestown Ice Rink, near Finglas at 4-00pm.

McDonalds in Stillorgan or Supermac’s in Finglas afterwards ( whichever is most convenient). (Cost of food not included in price)
