Greystones Athletic Club

This Sunday we travel to Belvedere House, Mullingar for the Leinster even ages. We are a bit disappointedthat more of our athletes are not taking part but are glad to report that we have a couple of full teams and anumber of individual athletes flying the flag for Greystones AC. All these athletes will also be representingCo. Wicklow as part of the County teams. We wish them all well and will be there cheering them on. Athletesneed to be there by 11am at the very latest to allow time for check-in and warm-up. Please allow for delaysgetting into Belvedere Hse. as there will be a lot of traffic. It is easiest to go up the M4 (Sligo road) toMullingar . Belvedere House is well signposted when you get close to the town.

The uneven ages will be held in Adamstown, Co Wexford on Sun. Nov. 7th and athletes who intend to runneed to text their names to Theresa on 0868635797 by lunchtime Tues latest, as no late entries will beaccepted. Races are from U11-U19 plus the Intermediate adults events. Well done to all the athletes whocompeted at the second Cross Country in Avondale last Sunday week. Once again it was a sea of Red &White, with our athletes again winning most of the individual championships and taking numerous teammedals. Both sets of results are on our web-site. We are hoping for a much better turnout this time.

We have organised a cross country league which will involve taking part in a series of 3 races, whereathletes build up points for the club, towards an overall trophy. There will be individual medals for each raceas well and certs for all finishers. The distances for these races will be much shorter than the championshipraces and will be well within everyones capabilities. We hope to see all our athletes taking part in as manyof these races as possible and scoring points for our club. Lets get out there bring those trophies backto Greystones. The 1st race will be here in Greystones on Sun 31st Oct (venue will be announced nextweek. Races for U9/11/13/15 and athletes can move up one age group. The 2nd race will be under lights inRoundwood on Fri 13th Nov.

We will be moving our Fri training to the Shoreline Community centre hall from next Fri 29th Oct, for our 6-7pm groups. Groups 1&2 will remain on the track for another two weeks until after the 2nd Leinster event.

A few people have joined us to help with the coaching and a few others have offered to help. Please comeon down to training any nights you are available and we will get you started. We will send you on a coachingcourse and a Code of Ethics course in the very near future and will get a roster drawn up as soon aseverybody has done these. The more help we have the better it is for everyone, so if you can spare an houra week or even every other week, we would really appreciate it.
There are still a good few athletes who have not returned their registration forms yet. Please bring themt totraining in an envelope with a copy of your birth/baptisimal cert and €15 to cover registration and insurancetill the end of Dec. If you have not yet received a form, please ask at training. We need to get these sorted asap so that all our athletes are properly covered.

Glad to report the hoodies have arrived and the shower proof jackets and leggings. Club T-shirts are alsoavailable at €5 for youths sizes and €6 for adult sizes. We have given up on the long awaited singlets &shorts and have cancelled the order. We have sourced a new supplier and should have these and waterprofjackets in stock in about 6 weeks. The monthly shop will be open on Fri. 29th Oct. in the room behind thereception area at the track.

The adult road running programme started last week and hopefully numbers will grow over the next fewweeks. The Fit4Life sessions will also continue at their usual times.
