Club News

A great start to this season with big numbers turning out for all training sessions and great work being done in preparation for the up-coming XC. There were cheers this week as we finished with the hill sessions (for the moment anyway) and as we head into the competition period, we will hopefully reap the rewards!
NEW ATHLETES
Quite a big number of new athletes have joined us in the last few weeks. We welcome all of you and hope you will be with us for a long time to come. We held a registration night for these athletes on Tues. last and lots of you are now registered with the club.  If you missed this you will need to put your registration form,  copy of birth cert and reg/insurance fee in an envelope and hand it in at the next training session, please. We are allowed a two week trial period and after this all athletes must get their reg/ins sorted.
PARENTS EVENING
For the benefit of new parents (and any others that are interested) some of our coaches will hold an information evening on Tues. 27th Sept. between 6 & 7 PM. We will do this in one of the rooms at the track. This is an opportunity to find out more about the club set-up, training, competitions, social events etc. and a chance to have your questions answered. This note is being issued on paper as many of you will not be signed up to the web-site yet. Please add yourself to the club site to receive future notes by e-mail, as we will not be doing paper copies unless specifically asked for them!
CLUB SHOP
The club shop will be open on Tues. next 27th Sept. from 7-8 PM. We have club singlets, shorts, T-shirts, rain-jackets, tracksuit bottoms and jackets and some hoodies in stock. Orders can be taken for sizes we don’t have. Athletes competing at Leinster and National level must have club singlets, otherwise club gear is optional. All club gear is sold at cost price and we have reasonably priced club t-shirts, which are very suitable for competition within the county.
SHARING LIFTS
We have been asked to include a request for anyone in the Delgany area who is willing to share lifts to and from training. Please call 0851359153 if you are interested in doing so.
UPCOMING COMPETITIONS
There is an Open XC competition on this Sun. in Co. Meath if any athletes are interested in competing. The club will be attending and athletes should let Theresa know if they wish to attend. It’s a good season opener and a chance to check how the training’s going. Flyer attached to the end of this note.

CLUB BAG-PACK
A huge “Thank You” to our fund-raising committee who organised the bag-pace in Dunnes Stores, Newtownmountkennedy and also to those who turned up and helped on the day! Your help is greatly appreciated and it was a very successful day. We hope to organise a weekend in Tesco next year and will require a lot more helpers for this one, so keep it in mind! Funds raised will be used to purchase equipment and improve facilities for all of our athletes!
ATTENDANCE TRIP
A great day was had by everyone who went on the “Attendance Trip” to Fort Lucan and photos are now on the web-site and Facebook page. Once again a huge Thank You to the organisers and to all the coaches who willingly gave their time to go along and supervise the trip. A great day was had by all!  Start building up your points now for next years trip. In a few weeks we will put a table up on the web site, which we will update regularly and you can keep a check on how you are doing!
IMPORTANT NOTICE
Once again we remind parents of the need to ensure coaches are present on the track when children are being dropped off and that you are there on time to collect them afterwards. There are a huge number of children coming on to and leaving the track, particularly at 7pm and with coaches busy trying to do the cool-down, hand out notes, put away equipment and sign in the next group, it is essential that parents are there on time and children are not left wandering about on their own. We suggest that, young children in particular are met at the entrance to the track  to ensure their safety, both from traffic and other possible dangers. We would also ask that children are encouraged to use the bathrooms before coming down to the track as we cannot allow them go up on their own and it greatly depletes our resources if we have to send our coaches up and down.
