UPCOMING EVENTS
THE ATHLETICS LEINSTER team competition is our next event and it’s on in Celbridge on Sat 8th June. The entry form has been on our web-site since Mon. (check under forms) and closing date for entries is this Wed. 22nd May. Teams of four needed in each age group. We can enter more than one team per age group.
The GAC/IMC Track & Field event will be held here in Greystones on this Sat 25th May at 3pm. There are several top athletes taking part, including Fionnuala Britton, Orla Drumm & Ciara Everard and our own Ellie Hartnett, in the women’s and a host of top runners in the various men’s events. Why not come on down and take a look  and also cheer on our local lads, who will all be hoping for PB’s on the day!
Best of luck to our younger athletes competing in the U9/10/11 pairs and the U12 Champs this Sat also.
Round 1 of the National League is this Sun. and happily, we are drawn in Santry. We will need all our U17’s and over to help make up the teams for this one. Both the men’s & women’s teams made the final last year and we hope to do the same in 2013. Please join us if you possibly can. For those under time pressures, as all events are timed and we are in Santry, you can just arrive for your event and leave immediately afterwards.
Entry form for the U13-U19 Leinster Championships will be up shortly, so watch out for this as there will be no late entries accepted by Leinster.

HELP NEEDED
We are still looking for some help both at the check-in, where we need volunteers for about 15-20 mins around drop off time and also during the 6-7pm training sessions, particularly on Tues evenings. We are constantly trying to improve things for all of our athletes and a little of your time could make for a safer and more enjoyable session for all of the children.

CONGRATULATIONS
Well done to all our club athletes who competed in the recent Wicklow Championships. We had two great days of competition, which included Track & Field events for all ages from 7 to 70+. Congratulations to the many, many medal winners, who are far too numerous to list here. We will post the full results on our web-site once they are available. A huge 'Thank You' must go out to all the officials and coaches who put in so much work, both before, during and after the events. It wouldn't happen without their willingness to give both their time and expertise, to make it all possible!

Congratulations to Stephen Rice who took the Senior Boys Javelin title at the Leinster schools with a fantastic throw of almost 60m, to Alanna Ryan, who won the Junior girls 80m sprint, Padraig Lennon who won the Intermediate boys Steeplechase and Eoin Taggart who won the Senior boys Steeplechase. Both lads were convincing winners in their respective races. Congrats also to Conor Dempsey who took 2nd in the Intermediate long jump, Amaris Borel on her 2nd place in the Intermediate 300m hurdles and Claire Foley on her 2nd place in the Senior 100m. Amaris was just shaded into 3rd place in the sprint hurdles. Solid performances also from Jamie Cullen in the senior 400m final & to Lorcan Lalor in the Intermediate 100m and a new PB for Steven Diggin of 4.58 for the Mile. Best of Luck in the All Ireland Schools.
Well done to the many, many GAC athletes who represented a variety of local schools at the Wicklow Invitational T&F event last Thurs. It was wonderful to see so many taking part and fantastic to see so many of our club athletes in the medals. We are very proud of all of you! Special congratulations go to St Kevin's NS, who won both the girls & the boys overall awards for best school!

Niamh Kearney continues to impress in the US where she was in action at the Sun Belt Conference Championships in Florida. She won bronze in the 1500m in a time of 4:33.56! This was after taking 5th place in the 800m in 2:15.65, which was just slower than her heat time of 2:14.07. A very impressive trio of results.

LEINSTER RELAYS
We had a great day's relay racing last Sunday, with some top results for GAC. U19 boys 4x400m won gold and the U18 team bronze. In the 4x 100m, the U 15 girls teams were 1st and 4th, with the U 16's 2nd and 6th. 4th place finishes for the U9 boys and U11 girls, 5th for U10 girls and 6th for U14 girls & U12 boys.  Well done to all who competed! Once again a big ‘Thank You’ to all the coaches who helped out on the day. A special ‘Thank You’ to Aidan Hartnett who was there early, as always, to help set up for the day and to Christina Browne, Cyril Smyth, Billy Rafter, and the Leinster members, who stayed back to help put all the equipment away, collect all the cones, take down the tents and pick up all the rubbish. It was greatly appreciated at the end of another long day.  Full results on www.athleticsleinster.org

AWARDS
Most of the Awards have now been given out. If you still haven’t received yours, please ask when checking-in at training.

REGISTRATION CARDS
We now have most of the athletes registration cards and we will try to give these out at check-in over the next few weeks. For the younger athletes we would suggest that parents come down and collect them, as they are likely to get lost otherwise and they cannot be replaced. These cards entitle you to a 10% reduction at Woodies. cards for recent registrations won’t have arrived yet.

CLUB SHOP
Our club shop will be open on next Tues. 28th May. We still don’t have any of the smaller sized singlets as we are having great difficulty sourcing a new supplier, but they should be available in a few weeks hopefully. We have all sizes in the red club t-shirts, childrens red shorts, club hoodies & rain jackets and some crop tops. We also have some Nike tracksuit bottoms at a great price, a couple of tracksuits and a small number of second hand spikes.
