CONGRATULATIONS
Well done to all the GAC athletes who took part in the 1st day of the County Championships last Fri. evening. There were many fine performances and lots & lots of medals won. There are far too many to list here, but full results will be published after the Championships are

completed. Many thanks to all who helped out on the night and especially to Rachel Casey who, I’m reliably informed, did a tremendous job with the admin. on the night. Fantastic to see a young athlete step up and take on these responsibilities and manage to compete and win medals as well. Many thanks Rachel.
Day’s 2 & 3 will take place this weekend on Fri 8th & Sat 9th May. We have a good number of entries, despite the clash with First Communions, and look forward to two more days of top class competition and lots & lots of fun! . Full programme is posted on the sidebar of our website. Entries are closed.

GREYSTONES AC/IRISH MILERS CLUB
Despite atrocious weather conditions, we had a great day's athletics with the IMC on Sat 2nd May, with several athletes reaching qualifying standards throughout the day! A huge Thank You to everyone who helped out, with special thanks to the ever reliable Cyril Smyth, Terry Kavanagh, Noreen O'Reilly, Oran O'Toole and the small but hardworking GAC crew, all of whom went above & beyond the call of duty to make the day a success. Many, many thanks to the IMC for all their work, to the Irish Sprinters & Irish Hurdlers for their welcome input and to Dave Sweeney for organising the Javelin event. Thanks also to Shoreline Sports Park for all their help! Lets hope for better weather next year!

UPCOMING COMPETITIONS
The Leinster Relays for U9-U16 ( athletes born 2000 – 2007) will be held in Greystones on Sat. 23rd May. As it is on our home track and there is no travelling involved, we hope to have lots & lots of teams running. Form will be on the website shortly and will close on Sunday 10th May and teams will be announced by Tues 12th latest. We need 4 members for each team and athletes can move up one age group to run on two teams.

The Leinster Juniors (U17-U20….. born 1996-1999) is being held on the same day and again as we are on home turf we hope to have lots of athletes competing on the day. Please list the events you wish to take part in. Form will be up shortly.

AWARDS NIGHT
Our Awards night went off well although quite a number of our athletes didn’t make it along to pick up their awards on the night. Once the County Championships are behind us, we will organise to make these awards available at check-in one Tuesday evening. It would be a huge help if we could have a couple of volunteers to look after this.

2015 REGISTRATION CARDS
A further batch  of Registration cards have arrived, but there are still many more to come. These too will be available for collection on the same night as the awards. As athletes are now being issued with Life Registration cards and won’t be getting replacements every year, they are addressed to the parents and so need to be collected by them. This is the number that will be used for all your future entries.

HELP STILL NEEDED URGENTLY
We  urgently need help at the 6-7pm training sessions. The total number of children attending at this time is 100 and we have waiting lists on all 4 groups. Only two of the present coaches have children in these groups and we are appealing to parents of these children to come on board and help with the training, otherwise we will not be able to continue with all of the groups. We really do not want to have to suspend groups, but will not be left with any other option if we don’t get some help soon. If any adults are available to help out, it would be greatly appreciated. We promise not to throw you in at the deep end and we will get you on to a coaching course asap. If you can help out once a week, or alternate with another parent every other week, please let us know.
Help is also urgently needed to cover check-in at 6pm & 7.30pm please. We are down to a small number of parents who are trying to cover all the sessions, or back to coaches trying to do this which delays the training, resulting in us being late finishing. This only takes about 15-20 mins max. but is a huge help to the smooth running of our training sessions.
