CLUB AWARDS NIGHT
Our club awards night for 2016 will be held in Greystones Tennis Club this coming Friday. 24st March at 7pm. This will take a similar format to previous years, where athletes get certificates for Attendance, Attitude & Achievement during 2016, with those who achieve all three getting an added award. There will also be 5yr, 10yr & 15 yr membership awards, Achievement awards & our Athlete of the Year. Light refreshments will be served afterwards with some treats for the athletes.
While these awards are for athletes who were with us during 2016, all athletes and their families are welcome to come along and be part of the celebrations on the night This is a great opportunity to come along and meet our volunteers and maybe have a chat with the people who coach your child each week.
There will be no training on Friday 24th to facilitate this Awards night.
Our annual Attendance Trip for those with good attendance during 2016, has been arranged for Sat 8th April.at 4pm. As Jumpzone proved to be so popular last year, we are returning this year, with the customary stop off at McDonald’s on the way back. The full list of athletes who qualify to go on this trip will be published on our website in the next couple of days.
A separate trip for our older athletes is also being planned and full details will follow shortly!

WICKLOW ENDURANCE INITIATIVE
There was a great turnout in Avondale last Saturday afternoon at the first gathering of athletes for the new County Initiative for athletes from 10-20 yrs of age, although GAC was poorly represented. After a good warm-up, the athletes broke into groups to go for a run over a variety of distances and on their return they were divided into groups for team building games. There was a fantastic atmosphere with everyone present having a great time and hopefully building bonds for the future. There are some pictures from the day on our website & FB page.
The next event in early April, will be a mile challenge on the track and hopefully we will see many more GAC athletes taking part in this and becoming part of what promises to be a great development squad for Wicklow athletes.
